Why You Should Make Friends with Nudists

May 16, 2019 Nora

If you’re thinking about, getting into, or already living a nudist lifestyle, you might be thinking about how to make friends with other people who share your love of living life in the nude. As most people in mainstream society are “textile people” – that is to say people who aren’t nudists – it might be a case of getting yourself over to a nudist beach or event and socializing with the people there. “But what do I talk about with my fellow nudists?” I hear you say. Going up to total strangers and striking up a conversation may be intimidating at best and downright terrifying at worst. It’s sort of like your first day at school; you’re self-conscious, unsure of what to do and you’re afraid everyone will stare and laugh at you… oh, and you’re naked. For a lot of people, this is the stuff of nightmares. You [READ MORE]

How to Overcome Shyness as a Female Nudist

May 6, 2019 Katie

A Blog Post by Katie J. You’ve heard about nudism and you’re intrigued. Perhaps you’ve already been enjoying some time chilling or walking around your apartment in your birthday suit. You’ve probably even fantasized about the how wonderful and liberating it would be to stroll around freely in the nude, chatting with other nudists who share your mentality. You want to give it a try but… … You’re terrified. Maybe you’re caught up in all the things that could go wrong, all your fears coming to life… What if everybody stares at me? What if everyone is younger/hotter/fitter than I am? What if I get harassed by some creeper? What if I get laughed at, or, God forbid, told to leave because I don’t belong here? You may also have some limiting beliefs about yourself and your body that are preventing you from taking the leap into social nudism: I’m [READ MORE]

Happily Nude: Overcoming My Fear

January 17, 2019 Dwight

A Blog Post by Dwight M. If you had told me 10 years ago that one of my projects would be to run the social media for a nudist website, I’d have laughed in your face. I was the furthest thing from a nudist. However, over time I became curious. You see, I work for a digital marketing agency. We were hired by Katie to help run the eCommerce and social media aspect of HauloverBeach.org. I was never a nudist. Ever. When I was assigned to handle Haulover Beach’s social media, I started doing my research. I talked to some of the folks on the team here who ARE nudists, and got some insight. I thought, “you know what? Being nude at home seems pretty cool. Maybe I’ll give it a shot.” So I did. I loved it. I learned nudist etiquette basics, like the fact that you ALWAYS put [READ MORE]

Tips for First Time Visitors

A Blog Post by Katie J. So, you’ve made the decision to take the plunge and head to Haulover Beach? Let me tell you, it’s going to be an experience you’ll never forget. If you’re nervous like I was the first time I went to a clothing-optional beach, don’t be. After five minutes in the sand, you’ll wonder why you waited so long to do this in the first place! I’ve compiled a few pieces of advice so that after you read this and pack up, you can focus on one thing: Relaxing in the sun! There’s a comprehensive list on our First Timer’s Guide, but I thought I’d add in a few personal tips that may make your trip to Haulover Beach a little easier. Tips for the First Time Visitor to Haulover Beach If you’re visiting from out of the area, make sure you book your hotel room [READ MORE]

Real Talk: Is Nudism Sexual?

February 2, 2018 Katie

One of the most common misconceptions about naturism, nudism or clothing-optional environments is that they’re sexually-charged environments. If that’s what you’re looking for, I’m sorry to disappoint you. Does Nudity Equal Sex? It depends on the context. If I’m stripping down in my bedroom in front of my husband after coming home from a date night, you bet your buns that nudity in that situation is going to equal sex. We’re two consenting adults behind closed doors (or fences, hello backyard!) where nobody can see us. Now, let’s go back a few years when I was pregnant. If I’m in a public place, like your regular ol’ “textile” or “non-nude” beach and I pull out my breast to feed my child, is that sexual in nature? Absolutely not. I still believe in being somewhat discreet. I didn’t walk around with my breast exposed like I was showing something off or [READ MORE]

What If My Body’s Not Perfect?

October 17, 2017 Katie

Blog Post by Katie J. It’s a question we get asked frequently by women and men. One of the common misconceptions is that you have to look “perfect” or have a “great body” in order to go to a clothing-optional beach like Haulover Beach. It’s also been said that “everyone at a nude beach is everyone who should be wearing clothes.” That couldn’t be farther from the truth. The fact is that unless you’re a professional model, we’re all going to have extra fat, scars, you name it. Friends tell me all the time, “I’d love to join you at the beach, but my breasts sag way too much. I have stretch marks, cellulite, and I just don’t look like an 18-year-old.” My body sure isn’t what it used to be. Having kids and stress take their toll on a body. But you know what I have instead? I have confidence. [READ MORE]
