Trip Report – March 28, 2013
My cousin and I visited Haulover Beach in June of 2011. We enjoyed ourselves so much that I am returning next month. I have plenty of photos that only include my cousin and I. We were able to enjoy ourselves and be free. It was our first time ever visiting a nude beach. We were shy and full of giggles the first day. The returning day after we were able to open up and blend in literally. I would recommend this experience to the secure, insecure and to any living person able to go! – Carolyn

Trip Report – August 10, 2011

We had a blast!! We got there on Monday, but was only able to be at the beach for about 30 minutes before a thunderstorm hit. We headed back to the hotel and were going to try to go back later, but it didn’t clear up until it was too late to go. Tuesday we were going to go back after we were done at the zoo, but as soon as we got back to the hotel, it started raining again. We decided rain or not, Wednesday we were going to go because we were leaving Wednesday afternoon.

We got up around 6am and headed up there on Wednesday and it was a beautiful day! That’s when most of the pics were taken. There weren’t very many people there when we got there… Just a few joggers, but as it got later in the morning people started showing up. By 10am it was a decent sized crowd in the section we were in, but not over congested. We still had enough room to stretch out and play in the sand. lol

There were all types of people there… young, old, skinny, and people like me who are a little on the chubby side. 🙂 This was our first time to a clothing optional beach, but I felt right at home, and immediately stripped down. 🙂

We definitely did not want to leave, but unfortunately we had to get back to Dothan, AL.

Thank you so much for all the info and help you have been!! Hopefully we will be able to come back soon and next time maybe we can stay longer!

  1. I was in Miami from Feb.20 – 27, 2011. The weather was marvelous, 80ish, clear skies and a nice breeze. I spent 4 afternoons at Haulover(part of the reason I was in Miami)and really enjoyed myself. This was my first ever trip any sort of public clothing-optional area and I was amazed at casualness people exhibited about being nude. There was very little gawking & no promiscuity; just people enjoying the sun and the freedom of being without clothing. There were many regular visitors, obvious by their deep allover tans, and some of them gathered together to chat. Nobody was unfriendly towards me and after the second day even nodded as I came onto the beach. I felt so instantly comfortable that before I set up a chair and umbrella I stripped down. What I really found surprising was the age of the people. I’m 63 and no longer the handsome devil I once thought I was but I fit right in. While there were some young people there I’d guess the average age of the group was probably well above 50.

There are a couple family and couples-only clubs but we have no such places in Michigan for single people to go. I know of a couple of beacheswhere I can enjoy a naturist afternoon but, tho they’re hard to reach, they’re public so therte’s always a bit of a risk involved. I like Haulover because that tension was not present.

I enjoyed my afternoons at Haulover and fully intend to visit more than once a years.

  2. My husband and I enjoyed the beach at the end of May, 2012. This was our first time to Haulover but not our first time to a nude beach. My husband is from Italy and we’ve been to nude beaches in Eastern Europe and the Caribbean. The European crowd is quite at home with nudity but the beaches can be rocky and not as scenic. We were looking forward to our Haulover stay but were not sure what to expect.

We were pleasantly pleased by the experience. The crowd was mostly made up of the Euro sophisticate types. All shapes and sizes could be found there. This was especially pleasing to me because my chest has given in to gravity after having two kids. My husband and I felt quite comfortable and went nude soon after setting up our umbrella. People were friendly but kept to themselves. Mostly everybody was nude with the exception of some topless sunbathers and the occasional couple that looked like they were passing through to test the water.. Nobody starred or encrouched on our privacy. We spend most of our time swimming in the blue water.

As far as supplies are concerned, I’d recommend bringing lotion with the highest SPF that you can find. Grooming varies. I went au natural but there was a mix of those who shaved and those who didn’t. Most of the men were clean shaven and I did observe a vastly wide variety of sizes and shapes on them as well.

We enjoyed our time and plan on going back.

    Cheers,
    C

  3. My cousin and I visited Haulover Beach in June of 2011. We enjoyed ourselves so much that I am returning next month. I have plenty of photos that only include my cousin and I. 4. At the outset, let me be perfectly clear: I accept homosexuality as as natural as heterosexuality. That being said, I was at Haulover beach in late Feb. 2017 and became quite uncomfortable with the overt ogling by many of the men present. I’m a heterosexual male and didn’t like it one bit. Beach etiquette asks us not to stare at or, to use my word, ogle others, be they man or woman. Keep that in mind, please. What should have been an enjoyable outing became so uncomfortable that I spent only one day at Haulover and cut my vacation short. Next time I’m Fla. I’ll check out Ft. Pierce’s Blind Creek beach and hope it is neither as crowded or uncomfortable as Haulover was this year.

  5. Went late April, 2019. Went for 4 days. As a first timer I thought the beach experience was great! Got better each day. Met more and more people. You would be surprised that hardly anyone in the midwest has heard of the beach, although it’s one of the busiest. I plan on going back next year.Don’t know why anyone wuld go anywhere else.

  6. Came back to Haulover this year and had a marvelous time. Spent five afternoons there with out feeling the discomfort of a year ago. Too bad it was my last day there.

  7. I was visiting Haulover with my friend I met on a nude cruise that lives in Ft. Lauderdale area. Coming from Cincinnati,Ohio there is nothing like it at home. It was my first time in the Ft.Lauderdale /Miami area and I had a wonderful time romping nude in the water and hiking on the sand at Haulover. The feeling of being free of clothing was exhilarating. We went to the beach three times during my visit and I did not want to leave each time we were there. The water was so warm it was like a soothing bath. I did some snorkeling and followed a manta ray as it swam among the crowds in the water. Also saw, larger fish and thousands of minnow size fish right next to the beach. I certainly hope to get back in the not so distant future.
